SMARTER SHOPPING
Could free shipping make your order more expensive?
Compare the total at checkout with the cost of adding an item to reach the free delivery threshold.
Start with the original basket
Your basket is €32. Delivery costs €4 and becomes free at €40. Checking out now costs €36. Add an €8 item and you pay €40. The second order costs €4 more even though the delivery charge drops to zero.
When the answer flips
With a €38 basket, the same delivery charge takes the total to €42. Add a qualifying €2 item and you pay €40. Check which items count towards the threshold and whether discounts bring your basket below it.
