PRACTICAL GUIDE · UTILIA WORK

How much does owning a car really cost each year?

Include fuel, insurance, maintenance, taxes and depreciation.

1 min read

Add visible costs

Calculate fuel or electricity, insurance, vehicle tax, servicing, tyres, inspections and parking.

Remember depreciation

Cars often lose value over time. To compare options, estimate the difference between purchase price and possible later value without treating resale value as guaranteed.

Annual example

€1,200 for fuel, €500 for insurance, €400 for maintenance and €200 for taxes and other costs totals €2,300 a year, excluding financing and depreciation.
