PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to create a personal budget from scratch

Organize your income and expenses to see how much you can save each month.

Write down your net income

Include your salary, recurring side income and other predictable money.

Categorize expenses

Separate housing, food, transport, debt, entertainment and occasional costs.

Calculate your balance

Subtract total expenses from income. If negative, review variable expenses first.

Review monthly

Compare your budget with actual spending and adjust categories.

Worked example

If you earn €1,800 and spend €1,450, you have €350 left before unexpected costs.

These examples are educational and may not fit every situation.
